Starting on October 30th, New Orleans City Park will be host to the 16th annual Voodoo Music and Arts Experience. The Voodoo Experience is a Halloween weekend tradition, and it gives the people of New Orleans a chance to see some big names in music. This year the lineup includes acts ranging from Florence and the Machine, Dead Mau5, The Zac Brown Band, to even Ozzy Osbourne. This lineup of widely varying artists has festival goers excited.
“I’m most excited for Florence and the Machine.” said Matt Doyle, a Communication major at Southeastern. “I think that her big theatrical sound is perfect for a huge outdoor venue.”
Miranda Miller, a former Southeastern student, said “I’m really stoked to see Modest Mouse. They’re one of my favorite bands, and I haven’t gotten to see them yet.”
Voodoo is not just a weekend for music lovers. There are a variety of other activities to tale part in and things to see over the weekend. There will be booths with artists selling their pieces, and different interactive art installations. There will also be food tents serving everything from Cajun food to pizza.
“My favorite part of the festival beside the music is the overall atmosphere.” said Christian Babin, a student at Delgado. “City park is a beautiful place for the festival, and the overall environment is so nice. It never feels too cramped, there’s plenty of open spaces to hang out, and the art work and various booths are always fun to look through. the food is also super bomb.”
