The Southeastern Sustainability Society Move in Mania fundraising project

The Southeastern Sustainability Society is in need of used and unwanted electrical appliances for its fundraising project that will take place at the start of the 2016 Move in Mania.

The purpose of the society’s recycling efforts is to eliminate negative impact on the environment, reuse items that still have good use, raise money for the Southeastern Sustainability Society’s sustainable consumption practices, and give incoming students the option to buy affordable electrical appliances.

During the 2015 spring semester, the Southeastern Sustainability Society collaborated with University Housing in efforts to get students living in student housing to recycle electrical appliances that they plan on throwing in the garbage.

Manager of Grounds, Landscaping and Recycling Carlos Doolittle said,”Director of University Housing Dr. Kay has been very supportive of these initiatives.”

The Southeastern Sustainability Society collected 13 usable recycled electrical appliances from University Housing.  Though it was not enough to host the fundraising project during the 2015 Move in Mania as planned.

The Southeastern Sustainability Society President Danilo Miranda said, in efforts to recycle and reuse more electrical appliances the society will collect and clean up any electrical appliances that have been thrown in the garbage during the next move out in May 2016.

Students or faculty interested in contributing used electrical appliances to the Southeastern Sustainability Society for the Move in Mania fundraising project can visit the society’s Facebook page or contact for more information.
