Southeastern Louisiana University hosted its 39th annual Strawberry Jubilee April 14. The event was from 11a.m to 2p.m. in the War Memorial Student Union Park.
The strawberry Jubilee is an event hosted each year by the Campus activity Board “CAB”. Each year CAB creates a theme and the event is created around it.
This years theme “CAMP CAB” was created to resemble a summer camp. An event for the students to relax, enjoy free food, play exciting games and forget about classes, at least for the day.
Over thirty clubs and organizations participated in the event by bringing different food items or activities that fit into the “CAB CAMP” theme.
“This year has been weird due to covid but this event was so much fun and different, I didn’t even know these kind of events happen in college” said Southeastern freshmen Tyronne Morris.
Some of this years activities include friendship bracelet making, bow and arrow game and mobile axe throwing where real axes were used.
Southeastern University Health Department was also at the Strawberry Jubilee giving free Covid-19 vaccines to any student who wanted one.
A total of 531 shots were given at the Strawberry Jubilee, the highest number of vaccines given since the pop-up clinics have started between students getting their first and second dose said Melissa a worker at the health clinic.
Strawberry Jubilee has been around since 1980 and the ever-changing theme brings a new adventure each spring for the students of Southeastern.
