Southeastern’s organizations had the opportunity to market services at Southeastern’s annual event Strawberry Jubilee on April 18 in the Student Union Park.
The 38 university organizations consisted of sororities, athletes, dancers, theater students, and the University Health Center. Students walked around each booth playing games and learning what the organizations offer.
- Alpha Psi Omega Theater Honor Society
The Alpha Psi Omega Theater Honor Society sold baked goods and hosted a pie the professor game. Freshman DJ James, member of Alpha Psi Omega, said it was their first time participating in Strawberry Jubilee, and they were excited to be a part of it.
- The Dance Performing Project
Southeastern’s Dance Performing Project promoted dance classes held at Southeastern, including introduction to dance, contemporary, choreography and improvisation.
“The classes aren’t just for dance majors. Anyone can take some of the classes as an elective,” said dance project member, junior Doreen Rolen.
- Lacrosse Team
The recently new men’s and women’s lacrosse teams were also glad to promote their sport. David Dipiazza, president of the men’s lacrosse team, said they recruited a good bit of students.
- Sororities and SELU Health Center
Other organizations such as Sigma Sigma Sigma prepared beignets, and the University Health Center hosted safety awareness games.
- More Strawberry Jubilee Activities
Games were also incorporated this year to attract more students.
“We added some games to add diversity and get students involved, not just the athletic but artistic too,” said CAB Operations Manager Kirsten Babin.
To provide for the artistic students, CAB gave students the opportunity to paint a wooden louisiana plaque.
La. was this year’s Strawberry Jubilee theme. In honor of the La. theme, CAB served red beans and rice, crawfish and king cake.
