Students on campus may not know that they have access to a food pantry. The student food pantry is operated by Multicultural and International Student Affairs and aims to help individuals who may be struggling financially, and therefore cannot afford food.
Jarius Warren, a student worker at the pantry said, “We are open to all students, and they just have to present a Southeastern student ID when they come in.”
The pantry is located in room 109 of McGehee Hall and is open on Tuesdays from 9-12 p.m. and Wednesdays from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Students can obtain different non-perishable food items such as peanut butter, cereal and canned fruit.
“Students can come once a week and we only ask that they limit themselves to one bag of rice and one container of peanut butter, but they are allowed to get an unlimited number of the other items that we offer,” said Josten Milan, a student worker at Multicultural and International Student Affairs.
The student food pantry is constantly looking for donations. Donations are accepted during the pantry’s hours of operation. If the pantry is closed, the Multicultural and International Student Affairs office accepts items, and it is located in the War Memorial Student Union Room 2302.
