Hammond, LA – Southeastern Louisiana University will host its annual Career Fair next week on Thursday, September 20. It is available to all Southeastern students.
“I’m not really sure what to expect,” says Nursing Sophomore Catherine Welch. “None of my teachers have really talked about it.”
The Office of Career Services advises all students to be well-dressed and come prepared with a well-written resume. They also advised students to do their research ahead of time and prepare themselves to ask well-versed and intelligent questions. They have provided a list of etiquette tips.
The event will last from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm.
Two seminars on professional presence and business etiquette take place on Wednesday,hSept. 12 and Monday, Sept. 17. Also, Southeastern’s Career Counselors are hosting an “ER Emergency Resume” Clinic free of charge in the weeks leading up to the career fair for students to have their resumes reviewed before presenting them to potential employers.
There will be over 125 employers present in the Pennington Student Activity Center.
“I’m looking for a job I can use today,” Welch says. “I’m not really close to finishing so professional employment is not really something I’m looking for.”
Lion Traxx will be adding an additional stop to its route in order to easier shuttle students to and from the Career Fair.
