The members and staff of Covington Presbyterian Church are actively seeking new members, particularly college students. With no current college program or regular members in the college age group or 18-25 years old, Covington Presbyterian Church hopes to attract new members by pursuing them.
Dr. Ledbetter preached of reformation in his sermon on Sunday, Oct. 27 asking everyone to make a change within themselves to be more humble and to thank God for the life he has given us. Ledbetter then read the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector from the Bible, Luke 18:9-14. Covington Presbyterian Church members are eager to let college students, particularly of Southeastern Louisiana University, that the doors are open to all who wish to praise God and worship together.
Covington Presbyterian Church has three active adult Bible studies on Sunday and one on Wednesday. During worship on Sunday at 10:30, the nursery is open to children newborn to 4. Children in Kindergarten to 5th grade are brought to the classrooms after the Children’s Message in the service to participate in the Cross Country program.
“I would love to see some college students drop by sometime,” says Jason Johnston, Covington Presbyterian Church Youth Director. “We don’t have a college program currently but we’d love to build one up.”
“If you’re looking for an opportunity to worship with us you can also join us for our youth program on Sunday afternoons and stop by anytime to help out with that,” says Johnston.
The Youth Group is meant for kids from 6th-12th grade. They meet for Sunday School at 9:30, again Sunday night from 4-6 p.m. There is a mid-week meeting Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Youth Director’s house.
