Students who want to see agendas prior to SGA meetings can access them through the J-drives on computers in SGA’s office according to Vice President of SGA Mujahed Ahmad. Plans for posting public agendas for SGA senate, appropriations, internal affairs and all other forms of special public SGA meetings to SGA’s website have been obstructed because of technical issues.
The SGA computers are public; however, students will need an SGA member’s assistance and oversight to access the J-drives. “We definitely want to get the agendas up on the website so students know what’s being voted on each week,” said President of SGA Luther Holloway.
SGA members are required by Louisisana state law to publicly post agendas for meetings 24 hours previous to the time the meeting is scheduled. Holloway said posting papers with the agendas printed on them publicly is something SGA would consider if students felt it was important.
Ahmad also commented on other ways for students to access the agendas.
“They can always e-mail their senate if any student wants to have access to any particular thing . . . what’s the legislation for our organization or our college of business, whatnot. So they always have that communication through that,” he said.
As of now, there is no public posting of the document. Students may visit the SGA office to access the J-drive Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
