There were three main topics discussed in this week’s SGA meeting. The Student Assistantship Kwikboost was voted by the SGA. “The Kwikboost will be the charging stations in the Student Union. Students can plug in and charge up any electric device similar to the ones that are in airports,” said Vice President of the SGA Jeff Simmons.
The SGA staff voted to pass this bill for Game Day Shirts to be available for students. The home football games will be given out five hundred Game Day Shirts. The SGA nominated and voted for College Representatives. Different members of SGA were selected for the available colleges that were open, like the College of Business.
After discussing the three main topics, SGA announced different activities and events that are coming up on or around campus. This weekend from 9a.m-2p.m, Johnny’s Pizza on 1603 N Morrison Blvd will host a car wash, and all the proceeds will go to breast cancer and other foundations. In D. Vickers Hall at the Vonnie Borden Theater, an opera performance will take place Thursday Sept. 19 and Friday Sept. 20. Also this Thursday, Sept. 12, outside Ralph R. Pottle Music Building & Music Annex, the music department will have take out dinner from Chili’s and all students are welcome.
Parking was discussed around campus, and 50 parking tickets have been given out so far this semester. The SGA are encouraging students to be careful parking around campus to avoid tickets. The SGA talked about Homecoming. Homecoming week will take place Oct. 21 till 26, and Homecoming Day will be Oct. 26. The SGA are trying to get freshmen students to take part in Homecoming activities. The SGA is also encouraging students to join SGA. SGA is looking for new members to join since a few students decided to leave SGA.
