R.A.D.(Rape Aggression Defense), a program for women to learn skills that can protect them from sexual assault, is now available for registration. Southeastern students and faculty can enroll in the program free of charge. Guests can register with a $25 fee.
The twelve hour class, which will take place over a two day weekend, will go over the basic and advanced techniques of self-defense. Instructors will include Lieutenant Patrick Gipson and Sergeant William Smith from the Southeastern Police Department. They are both certified R.A.D. instructors. Other R.A.D. instructors may also assist with training.
Students, faculty and guests who are interested can register by emailing the Southeastern Police Department at RAD@southeastern.edu. All information will be private and confidential The location will also be confidential for the safety of the women enrolled. Classes begin this Saturday at 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, contact the University Police office.
