SLU fights budget cuts

The Southeastern Faculty Senate met for their monthly meeting this past Wednesday to discuss the possible tuition increase. A recent announcement by the Louisiana state government stated that a special legislative session would be held beginning next week to discuss ways to lessen the brunt of a $304 million deficit in the state’s yearly budget. The Senate spoke about the ramifications of possible funding cuts and tuition increases.

Dr. John Crain, President of Southeastern University, stated that the session would benefit state universities and possible solutions would be developed to avoid any more deductions in funding.

These discussions will continue at the Faculty Senate’s next meeting on March 8 in the University Center.
