At the Southeastern Louisiana University’s Pennington Student Activity Center you can hear jingle bells as holiday cheer is brought to campus. Students can see and feel the holiday spirit as soon as they walk through the doors. Senior Communication major Harli Manuel enjoys the festive feel that is offered this time of year at the Pennington.
“Every year the Pennington puts up a giant tree near the front desk. The tree is decorated from top to bottom with ornaments, garland and lights. The Pennington puts up garland on the control desks, tables and the emergency poles. The Pennington also decorates the stairs and the railing.” said Manuel.
The Pennington tries their best to bring Christmas to campus. This makes the facility more inviting to the students and customers. Graduate Assistant Raymond Jones said, “I really enjoy putting up decorations every Christmas. You can tell it brightens people’s day when they walk in.”
Junior nursing major Raven Price said, “I really like it when I can go to the Pride Café and get a hot chocolate and sit by the lights in the Pennington. Situations like these is what makes the Pennington such a special place on campus.”
It is perfect timing that all of this happens before and during finals week. Students can use a change of scenery and go to the Pennington to study around all the Christmas decorations.
