Southeastern Louisiana University’s chapter of the National Organizational Communication Association is holding a fund-raising event in conjunction with The Hammond Downtown Development District.
The Hammond DDD will be presenting the 11th Annual Starry November Night on Friday, Nov. 13 from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. The event is the official kick-off to the Holiday shopping season in Historic Downtown Hammond.
According to the Hammond DDD website, “For the adults, there will be a wine stroll from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. allowing guests to check out Hammond’s selection of eateries, shops, farmer’s market, bars, and musical talent. Children can visit with Santa Claus in the kid zone located in front of Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center where they can play in the ‘snow,’ listen to live holiday music, write letters to Santa and join in other activities especially designed for children.”
There will be horse-drawn carriage rides and stargazing with the Ponchartrain Astronomical Association. The event is free of charge. Anyone 21 or older who would like to participate in the wine-tasting may purchase a wristband and tasting glass for $20 at the Downtown Development District Office at #2 W. Thomas St. Identification will be required.
A Tuba band playing Christmas carols will herald the kickoff of the event upon the arrival by sleigh of the mayor and Santa at 6 p.m.
NOCA will hold it’s fundraiser in front of the Mariner’s Inn at 117 W. Thomas St. during Starry November night.
“They will offer hot chocolate and a cookie for $2. Any funds collected will benefit NOCA by adding resources to their budget,” according to NOCA PR officer, Chelsea Orgeron.
“Organizational Communication Association (OCA) became a national organization in 2013, resulting in the name change to the National Organizational Communication Association (NOCA). This will be our third year to participate in Starry November Night,” says NOCA treasurer, Kacy Ray.
