Lions play Houston Baptist for Homecoming Game

The Southeastern Louisiana football team will conclude the school’s Homecoming Week activities with a Southland Conference matchup against Houston Baptist University on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Southeastern (3-3, 3-1 in conference) takes on the Huskies (2-4, 1-3 in conference) at Strawberry Stadium for a 4 p.m. kickoff. Prior to the game, the annual Homecoming Parade will roll through the streets of Hammond at 12 p.m., eventually making its way to Friendship Circle.

After the win over McNeese State on Oct. 8, Southeastern scored 58 points to defeat Stephen F. Austin this past Saturday. Before their bye week, Houston Baptist suffered an ugly loss to Western Kentucky on Oct. 1, in which the offense generated only 224 total yards. This past week brought another heartbreaker, a 33-30 loss to Southland Conference foe Nicholls State (3-3).

The Lions are led by senior quarterback Justin Alo and wide receiver Brandon Acker, who have connected for five touchdowns this season. In the backfield, senior running back Rasheed Harrell leads the team with 257 total yards and two touchdowns.

For Houston Baptist, linebacker Garrett Dolan leads the Southland Conference with 60 total tackles. Offensively, the Lions will be charged with stopping senior quarterback Tony Dawson, who has rushed for 353 yards this season.

If unable to attend, fans can catch the game on the Southland Sports Radio Network, or at Lionsports.net, where a video stream will be available for LionVision subscribers. Live stats will also be updated on the website.
