Have you ever wanted to get involved in global missions but you don’t know how? Have you ever wanted to do something for someone who needs love and help more than you, but you just don’t know where to start? Have you ever wanted to do something out your comfort zone, but just don’t know how?
Well, if your answer is yes to any of these questions, then just keep reading. Operation Serve International is a non-profit missions organization that shares the love of Christ in word and deed. This organization was established in 1983, and since then they have been reaching the people of Mexico City through medical, dental, optical, hair and nail care, and children’s ministry.
You are not too unexperienced to too experienced to be a part of this mission. If you have a desire to get out there, and reach people who may have lives different from yours, then this trip is for you.
If you want to be a doctor, there is an opportunity for you to come serve those in the medical field. If you love children, there is a place for you to express your love and care to the children of Mexico.
The hard working locals of Mexico make average five dollars a day, therefore free medical care for them is a great blessing. They usually have to choose between medical care or survival. By being a part of this mission and partnering with Operation Serve, you have the opportunity to make a difference greatly in someone’s life.
In just this one summer, with the help from teams from all over the world, almost 13,000 people of Mexico City were served in the medical, optical, dental, hair and nail care, counseling, and children’s ministry. There were also 2,233 people who gave their hearts to Jesus Christ. In just one month alone, there were 3,626 people served. If these numbers excited you, and you want to be a part of the call to mission, please visit www.operationserve.org.
Field Assistant, Casey Carr, joined the summer staff of Operation Serve International and said, “At the beginning of the summer, I frequently asked myself, “What are you doing!?” It was initially challenging to pick up and leave everything behind, and that initial decision took a lot of conversation with trusted individuals who helped push me into surrender and obedience to God’s call. The prayers were heard, and God did miraculous things this summer! It was a summer outside of my comfort zone to say the least, but I was able to meet people who are wholly on fire for God and dedicated to seeing his will be done. With the help of OSI’s national staff, and international volunteers, we were able to serve over 12, 920 people throughout the communities of Mexico, and there were 2,233 salvations.”
National volunteer member,
Abii Clemente who lives in Mexico City, says, “Every day in every church I was
going to, someone was wondering what you learned?
Well I learned that I have more than I imagined and need.
I learned that a word and a hug can repair a person’s soul.
I learned that no matter the age, nationality or skills in the end you are part of a family. Thank you to those who came from another country and love ours in an extraordinary way to the degree of helping everyone that was possible, we carry them in the heart.
National Volunteers don’t get tired of loving Mexico and loving God, they are admirable.” This is just a glimpse of the thankful hearts from the people of Mexico.
National staff member, Jose
González who is a medical student in Mexico says, “I still can’t believe we’re
being part of something so huge, I never thought I’d meet young people so
determined to impact the world.
The best of all is that we are all more than just friends, we are a great family, very good brothers, maybe from different countries but with the same feeling, serve.”
This is proof that no matter what you do or who you are, you are able to be apart of meeting people’s practical needs in Mexico City.
