Former PRSSA member Jaime Gelpi will be a guest speaker at this weeks meeting. She joined PRSSA her sophomore year, and from the moment she walked in she knew she wanted to be president. Eager to learn more about the industry, she attended every meeting and was voted secretary. Last spring she accomplished her goal and became president.
As president, she and her teammates attended the South East Journalism Conference. She described the them as a small yet solid group. At the conference they competed in the PR on-site competition and placed 1st. During her last semester she decided to step down as president to focus on her thesis and professional career. She was still very much involved with the organization by being apart of the t-shirt committee. She and the other members designed t-shirts for the organization that are still available for purchase.
She is now a Copywriter and Social Media Specialist at Imaginal Marketing Group. She interned there throughout her senior year and was offered a full time position a few months before graduation. Jaime is also working as a freelance writer, her goal is to expand her freelance business and to pursue her masters degree at Southeastern.
“Jamie set a good example of how to be very successful in the PR field by her strong work ethic,” says PR member, Gabby Ybarzabal.
She has undoubtedly left a positive impact on members of PRSSA, we are really excited to hear her speak and hear about the accomplishments she made since she’s graduated.
