[Breaux Bridge, La.] The annual City Wide Garage Sale was held on Oct. 2 in Breaux Bridge, La. There were over 100 participants who held sales throughout the town. There was also a flea market in Veteran’s Park in downtown with over 60 vendors from around the state as well as local food, face painting and live music.
Bonnie Sonnier from the Bayou Teche Visitors Center said, “This is the sixth year that we have had the garage sale, and every year it is better than the last.”
The City Wide Garage Sale brought over 10,000 people. This large turnout caused the local hotels, bed and breakfasts and campgrounds to fill up.
“It really brings out the locals from the area,” said Rebecca Sharky, the general manager of Café Des Amis. Sharky said that it does not usually bring a large number of tourists to the area, but that it is good for business nonetheless.
The sale featured some local artists, including Collette’s Candle Rocks and Rock Art. Other items being sold were antiques, children’s clothes, Saints apparel, baby items and even puppies.
