Yuan believes that involvement in other organizations is a great benefit to students entering the Health and Safety Field.

“Yes so our field we have to have the ability to talk to people, to interact, to make a positive influence,” said Yuan. “You are basically taking current worker safety, health. You also make sure that the workplace is safe, there’s no other environmental damage whatsoever. So it’s all about what we call the people being this, how you put in for us out of the human being’s mind on their day-to-day operations on the company is in the operation as well.”

Cuevas is a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity as well as being a leader of two other campus organizations he explains how he can juggle it all.

“My planner is everything,” said Cuevas. “Attending three or four meetings a week it makes those more manageable.”

Longtime friend Jennifer Dettwiller describes how Cuevas always has had involvement with extracurriculars.
“He has always been a go-getter and extremely involved in school ever since our time in high school,” said Dettwiller. “So when we got to college, and I saw him grow into his leadership roles on campus I was not surprised one bit, and proud to say I know him. He’s definitely grown over the years, and it’s great to see that.”
Dettwiller goes on to explain the type of person Cuevas and how his personality has helped with his campus successes.
“Daniel is the type of person who will go out of his way to make someone feel like they are a part of something,” said Dettwiller. “He is a great friend to have when you need a laugh and one of the most humble people I know.”
Cuevas has been a role model for many during his time at the university, and with his new scholarship and acceptance into the Board of Certified Safety Specialists, he will be looked upon by many more as a leader in the upcoming year.
