Possible TOPS progress

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Student Government Association leaders will have word next Monday on whether or not Governor John Bel Edwards will fund the university’s TOPS for the new school year.

As Southeastern pleads student testimonies, other Universities from Louisiana join them in Washington to meet and discuss the issue of how TOPS cuts are making things harder for students, according to Southeastern Louisiana Student Body Vice President Gabrielle Reynolds.

“Our SGA president is going up to Washington to talk to the governor about everything that has been happening in Louisiana with the TOPS issues. Since everyone’s TOPS got cut, I know a lot of people who could not come back to school because of they had to get another job or they couldn’t schedule as many classes; so I know a lot of students are affected by it,” said Reynolds.
