Opening weekend for Southeastern’s baseball team may have been slightly delayed, but that did not stop Lions from bringing their best to the field.
Coach Riser said he has high expectations for this year’s team, “We’ve put together the toughest schedule we’ve had in the last ten years in order to take our program to new heights.”
The Lions began their season with a win, loss and postponed tie. On Friday, The University of Louisiana at Lafayette was scheduled to play Southeastern but unfortunately that game was rained out before either team could step onto the field.
Saturday proved to be a much more successful day. Southeastern won 11-1 against Hofrsta University in the 7th inning. Sunday was a letdown to Murray State, losing 1-3, but the Lions were back again on Monday to face the Ragin’ Cajuns. However, the forecast had other plans.
Due to inclement weather, the game was postponed in the 11th inning. The Lions and Ragin’ Cajuns tied 4-4 and scheduled to continue on March 29, when the Ragin’ Cajun’s will return to Southeastern.
