Hammond, La.- Southeastern Louisiana University Department of Management and Business Administration is presenting guest speaker Lord Christopher Monckton. Monckton’s presentation topic is: Is CO2 mitigation cost-effective?
The event will take place on October 2, 2012, at 7:30 pm, in the Kiva Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. There will also be a question and answer portion of the program.
You may ask what CO2 Mitigation is. It is the efforts to reduce the impacts on the environment of burning fossil fuels. These CO2 emissions come from automobiles, power plants, and manufacturing activities that are part of our modern life.
Dr. Russell McKenzie, Associate Professor of Economics at SELU, said, “We are honored to have someone of his stature speaking at SELU.” Dr. McKenzie also said, “ Lord Monckton’s presentation is not concerning the role of CO2 in global warming, instead it addresses whether we afford to stop it.”
Dr. Antoinette S. Phillips, Ph.D., Interim Department Head of the Department of Management and Business Administration said, “This lecture will cross disciplines. It is not just for business majors.” In addition, Dr. Phillips noted “ Lord Monckton makes people think, and he will say something that will have meaning to everyone.”
Hope Graham, Administrative Assistant III, said, “It is important to hear different perspectives other than your own.” When asked why you should attend this event Graham said, “ You should always attend SELU events, and Lord Monckton is an internationally renowned speaker.”
